Parks, Recreation, and Tourism are seeking an experienced, highly motivated team player to develop, coordinate, plan, program, market, schedule, implement, and evaluate a variety of large and small scale city-wide and community indoor and outdoor special events. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Works with City and various outside community groups in the organization and implementation of public city-wide special events and environmental programs.

Plans, researches, develops, schedules, implements, and monitors city-wide recreation and departmental special activities and events.

Coordinates and leads in the design of promotional and advertising material for assigned events and programs; coordinates and consults planning and activities between departmental staff, various city agencies and outside groups, and citizens; develops new ideas, sponsorships, entertainment, and events to enhance program offerings.

Interacts with the public in person, by telephone, and electronically to provide information, and respond to requests and complaints related to the area of responsibility. Provides excellent customer service that meets the expectations of the City’s Customer Service Initiative, while following set standards for providing customer service.

Oversees and monitors expenditures for the area of responsibility; provides fiscal data for preparation of the annual budget; prepares financial forms and reports; processes daily paperwork and requisitions.

Collects, compiles, and analyzes data for statistical reference, documentation purposes, and reporting. Maintains records, processed daily paperwork. Assists with preparing annual budgets, revenue forecasts, and processing monetary transactions.

Reviews, recommends, and enforces policy and procedures for area of responsibility; monitors all city-wide events and environmental programs to ensure compliance with all applicable City policies, ordinances, health, and safety requirements, and obtains permits as required.

Assists with securing and supervising logistics for a variety of departmental and city-wide special events, environmental programs, community programs, and activities.

Programs and contracts unique entertainment and amusements for themed city-wide events; establish vendor fees, implement contracts with vendors, and selects independent contractors.

Maintains equipment and supply inventory; places orders for new products to support events and programs.

Conducts registrations for city-wide and departmental special events; records and deposits monies collected.

Recruits, trains, certifies and supervises volunteers and staff for city-wide events and programs.

Attends or conducts staff, committee, and other professional meetings to exchange information; attends professional training classes or seminars to improve professional skills.

Programs and provides logistical support for a number of department ceremonial and honorary-type programs.

Assists with facilitating special event permitting and work orders for special events and programs.

Completes other duties as assigned.

Required Experience

In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this position requires a minimum of one year of full-time equivalent experience. Applicant must be able to develop, coordinate, plan, program, market, schedule, implement, and evaluate a variety of large and small scale city-wide and community indoor and outdoor special events.
