Parks & Recreation is searching for a Senior Recreation Specialist to join our team providing exceptional programs and service at our premier recreation center located in Ettrick. If you are a team player, know how to plan recreational programs for older adults & youth, organize special community events and work well with numerous community organizations throughout the year, we want you to lead our team providing great programs for a diverse population. Under general supervision of the Community Recreation Manager, the Senior Recreation Specialist manages facility operations, rentals, programs and staffing for Ettrick Recreation Center. Duties include: supervising, training and evaluating part time staff, volunteers, contractual staff and other individuals, as necessary. Develops, plans, supervises, and implements recreation programs and special events. Responsible for facility management, monitoring and evaluating all recreational programs and special events; securing reservations; preparing monthly reports; and other duties as required. Monitors and evaluates staff performance and customer experience. Prepares a variety of written reports. Perform other work as required.
Bachelor's degree in recreation or related field; two years of progressively responsible experience in recreation or community service program planning; experience providing recreation programs for adults and youth; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of objectives and principles of public recreation program planning. Ability to plan, organize and lead recreation activities. Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Must be able to operate a computer and related software. Must have the ability to interact with a variety of people with diverse backgrounds and varying ages. Ability to supervise staff. Must be willing to work outside normal work hours, when necessary, which may include evenings and weekends. Good driving record required. Must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one more major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months.
