Park Attendant
$12.89/hour; on-call, seasonal (up to 40 hours per week) positions available. Assist in the daily operation of various County’s parks and outdoor pools. Applicants should be willing to work flexible schedules, which may include weekend, early morning, late evening, and holiday hours. Selected applicants will be assigned to a designated location, but may be required to work at other locations.

Park Supervisor

$14.90 / hour; on-call, seasonal positions available (up to 40 hours / week). James City County Parks and Recreation seeks an individual to perform responsible work managing the daily operation of parks and facilities including directing staff, assisting patrons, monitoring activities, and maintaining cleanliness

 Lifeguard (Outdoor)

$10.37/hour DOQ; on-call, seasonal positions available (up to 40 hours per week) positions available. Ensure the safety of swimmers, enforcing safety rules, promoting water safety, and maintaining pool areas for Upper County Park and Chickahominy Riverfront Park.

Lead Lifeguard (Outdoor)

$11.99/hour; on-call, seasonal positions available (up to 40 hours per week) positions available. Ensure the safety of swimmers, enforcing safety rules, promoting water safety, and maintaining pool areas at Chickahominy Riverfront Park and Upper County Park.

Assistant Recreation Supervisor (Summer Camp Program)
$11.99/hour; on-call, seasonal (up to 40 hours per week) positions available. Assist with overseeing the comprehensive REC Connect Summer Camp Program to include daily program schedule planning, activity leadership, and record keeping. Work schedule is Monday – Friday between 7:00am-6:00pm during the summer months.

Assistant Recreation Supervisor 
$17,283/year + partial county benefits; part-time regular (up to 28 hours / week) positions available. Assist with overseeing the comprehensive REC Connect Before and After School Program and Summer Camp Program to include daily program schedule planning, activity leadership, and record keeping. Work schedule included year round employment and is Monday – Friday between 7:00 a.m. – 9:15 a.m. and/or 3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. during the school year and Monday – Friday between 7:00am-6:00pm during the summer with occasional evenings and/or Saturdays.

Recreation Leader (Neighborhood/Special Events)
$10.37/hour; on-call, year-round (up to 28 hours per week) positions available. Help plan, lead, and coordinate neighborhood/special event activities and programs, on an as-needed basis; may also assist with activity/event logistics, set-up and breakdown for community events, and/or transportation of participants to various programs.

Recreation Leader (Summer Camp Programs)

$10.37/hour; on-call, seasonal (up to 40 hours per week). Help plan, lead, and coordinate recreational activities such as games, sports, arts and crafts for summer camp programs. Work schedule is Monday-Friday between 7:00am-6:00pm with occasional evenings and/or Saturdays.

Instructor (Special Interest/Sports/Outdoor Recreation)

$12.00 - $30.00/hour DOQ; on-call, seasonal positions available. Plan, execute and instruct Special Interest/Art, Sports and Outdoor Education classes/camps during spring and summer seasons, for youth and/or adults on an as-needed basis. Specifically looking for individuals qualified to teach classes and/or camps in areas of preschool-aged programming (art, geography, etc.), science, sports (basketball, soccer, multi-sport, etc.), outdoor skills (camping, cooking, fishing, hiking) and outdoor adventure, but will consider any additional topics as well as stated in application.

Therapeutic Recreation Leader

$10.37/hour; on-call, seasonal (up to 40 hours per week) and on-call, year-round (up to 28 hours per week) positions available. Supervise, organize and plan before and after school and summer programs for the inclusion of persons with disabilities. Classes and camp program schedules may vary Monday - Friday between 7:00am-6:00pm and occasional weekends.
