The Parks and Recreation Aide IV ($11.65 per hour) duties will include, but not be limited to:

Providing customer service and enforce rules and regulations

Serve as facility supervisor in absence of full-time staff

Supervising part time staff and volunteers

Make facility/program decisions based on inclement weather about program delays, closures or cancellations in hte absens of the full-time staff

Provide routine maintenance of areas, amenities and equipment

Leading/ instructing/officiating sport activities

Individual will work consistently in an outdoor environment in various weather conditions

Assist with and/or manage sporting/special event participation

Report incidents/accident and discrepancies

Perform housekeeping/custodial duties including cleaning all parts of the public restrooms and empty trash cans

Perform athletic field set up/breakdown and maintenance 

Open and close facilities

Operate city vehicles and perform site inspections

Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on the current workloads and department needs.

Required Experience

MINIMUM: High School or GED plus one (1) year related experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Requires a current driver’s license in accordance with Virginia or North Carolina DMV driver’s license eligibility requirements.

Special Requirements: Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required to meet operational needs. All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term departmental needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
