This position is primarily responsible for, overseeing, leading and participating in the daily scheduled work assignments of groundskeeper and motor equipment operator crews. Leads crews to include routine maintenance, special projects, construction, and logistical support for city sponsored functions and special events to include athletic fields, municipal and school grounds, and parks open space located through the city. Supports the maintenance of city facilities such as athletic grounds, municipal and school facilities, grounds, parks and fields. Crew work activities will involve operating heavy specialized motor equipment, power tools and hand tools, perform routine and skilled tasks such as, grading, mowing and trimming of turf, landscaping, planting, weeding, fertilizing, pruning trees and shrubs, material applications, removing dead vegetation and wood debris, edging, mulching, paving, drainage, and perform repairs and construction. Cleans and stocks restrooms and storage facilities.
In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of one year of related, full-time equivalent experience.
Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards. A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required. Special skills or equipment certification may also be required.
