Requires a bachelor’s degree in recreation management, recreation and leisure, physical education or closely related area.


Must have experience working with teens in  a welcoming environment.  Provide a safe and secure place for creating and learning life skills; mentors teens; provides leadership and supervision of program participants.

Research, plans and coordinates youth and family special events; creates itineraries, staff and volunteer assignments; researches and purchases materials needed for activities.

Supervise Teen Center staff to include the scheduling of staff, evaluating performance, providing training, conducting staff meetings and brainstorming sessions to improve programming; uses behavior management tools when necessary; works with teens and parents on resolving issues and answering questions; implements and follows program plan.

Coordinate the After School Program; plans, implements and evaluates the program; supervises contractor programs; conducts outreach in the community; leads recreational and sport activities.

Plan and maintains monthly calendars and schedules, assists students with school work, implements recreational activities; corresponds with local schools, PTAs, community partners and the Town of Vienna public information department.

Maintain quarterly reports to provide daily attendance and special event records along with incidents and programs provided by the Teen Center; maintains cash records.

Design, creates and distributes newsletters, promotional material and pamphlets; develops program brochures, newsletter and email blasts for the Town; serves as teen center liaison to the Town’s Public Information Office.

Coordinate transportation of program participants from local schools.

Collaborate with outside vendors and coordinates the procurement of supplies.

Manage communication via email, phone calls and walk in customers; collects and maintains participant registration database; maintains participant records and emergency contact information; compiles email distribution lists to assist in communication.

Supervise teen volunteers and teen council group; oversees odd job list bank and maintaining records; oversees bimonthly meetings; researches and coordinates with community and town partners to provide volunteer assistance for major events; supervises all teen volunteers at special town events and programs, assigns job duties and tasks, maintains volunteer records and schedule, validates teens volunteer logs; reports volunteer logs back to Program Coordinator.

Prepare purchase orders; monitors and maintains accounts; reviews and processes invoices.

Plan teen and parent special events and programs; engages teens and adults in activities and programs; verifies room reservations; confirms speakers and presenters, obtains all materials needed for special programs; coordinates with sponsors and donors and provides documentation at the conclusion of events, if necessary.

Plan, researches and coordinates the Teen Excursion summer camp.  Hires and trains summer camp counselors, creates excursion calendar, procures supplies, reserves transportation, ensures payment for vendors and maintains required forms and materials for Teen Excursion Camp; serves as the Teen Excursion Camp Coordinator.

Develop catalogue copy and inputs data into recreation software

Required Experience

One-year full-time experience in recreational setting with duties associated with this position.
